“Something is missing…”
Russell began his path as a personal trainer through his love of fitness and a desire to help people create change in their lives. But he soon came to the realization that something was missing. He could give people the best exercise and nutrition programs in the world, but saw people who said they wanted results sabotage those results over and over again. The question of “Why?” led him to the discovery that all human behavior has a positive intention behind it in the unconscious mind. From over eating to co-dependent relationships to drug addiction, our unconscious mind thinks we are somehow benefiting and meeting our needs through these behaviors. And he then realized that unless he identified and satisfied these “positive” intentions through other, healthier means, they were not going to change the behavior, period.
So Russell reformatted his approach and started addressing fitness from the inside out. The result was way beyond the physical and had his clients telling him that he had changed their life forever. With his heart full from being of such service, Russell had discovered his passion for helping others to create real and lasting change in every area of their lives, beyond fitness. He wanted to help facilitate this change as effectively and safely as possible. So after doing his due diligence on various methods, he focused on and chose to specialize in Strategic Intervention training.
Strategic Intervention is dedicated to extracting the most practical and effective forms of strategic action and communication from a variety of disciplines: Ericksonian therapy, strategic family therapy, Human Needs Psychology, organizational psychology, neurolinguistics, psychology of influence, strategic studies, traditions of diplomacy and negotiation, game theory, and others.
What distinguishes SI from other strategic studies is the belief that certain holistic solutions “snap into place” when more people’s needs are met, expressed, and elevated. These solutions actually deliver more benefit for less effort.
The goal of Strategic Intervention is to integrate the core insights of the numerous psychology traditions into a method of practical strategic action. SI encompasses strategies that span from the belief systems and emotional patterns within an individual, to individual relationships, to group dynamics, to organizational and cultural interventions. Aa a trained SI coach, Russell navigates these different arenas with ease.
